After the first documentary film Nanook of the North (Flathery, 1922) shot in real places in Alaska and Canada, many types of documentary film emerged. The documentary, dating back to the 19th century, is the closest cinematographic product to the truth, also differs from fictional film with its features such as accuracy and reliability. Thus, it became the primary method of transferring social and political issues. On the other hand, with these features, the documentary has become one of the effective propaganda tools. The propaganda method was used extensively, especially in historical documents related to the past. When the documentary gives incomplete, wrong, biased information, it can not only deceive the audience, but the audience can also develop a social attitude with the information they receive from the documentary. In other words, documentaries help us understand both our world and our role in this world, and shape our roles in the public sphere. The accuracy of the information in documentaries can contribute to the shaping of the individual and the society in this way is important. With the increase of digital mediums as the display area, the structure of the documentaries and the accuracy of the information contained in it have changed. In most documentaries, fiction and reality are intertwined, which cast a shadow on the documentary's claim to convey reality. In this study, how this hybrid structure, Drama Documentary, negatively affects the accuracy of information, will be discussed through Rise of Empires: Ottoman (Şahin, 2020) on Netflix.
