Yayın Mental disorder and suicidal ideation detection from social media using deep neural networks(Springer, 2024-12) Ezerceli, Özay; Dehkharghani, RahimDepression and suicidal ideation are global reasons for life-threatening injury and death. Mental disorders have increased especially among young people in recent years, and early detection of those cases can prevent suicide attempts. Social media platforms provide users with an anonymous space to interact with others, making them a secure environment to discuss their mental disorders. This paper proposes a solution to detect depression/suicidal ideation using natural language processing and deep learning techniques. We used Transformers and a unique model to train the proposed model and applied it to three diferent datasets: SuicideDetection, CEASEv2.0, and SWMH. The proposed model is evaluated using the accuracy, precision, recall, and ROC curve. The proposed model outperforms the state-of-theart in the SuicideDetection and CEASEv2.0 datasets, achieving F1 scores of 0.97 and 0.75, respectively. However, in the SWMH data set, the proposed model is 4% points behind the state-of-the-art precision providing the F1 score of 0.68. In the real world, this project could help psychologists in the early detection of depression and suicidal ideation for a more efcient treatment. The proposed model achieves state-of-the-art performance in two of the three datasets, so they could be used to develop a screening tool that could be used by mental health professionals or individuals to assess their own risk of suicide. Initially, we describe the problem and its main challenges. Then, by following the PRISMA systematic review methodology, we survey the existing Text-to-SQL review papers in the literature. We apply the same method to extract proposed Text-to-SQL models and classify them with respect to used evaluation metrics and benchmarks. We highlight the accuracies achieved by various models on Text-to-SQL datasets and discuss execution-guided evaluation strategies. We present insights into model training times and implementations of different models. We also explore the availability of Text-to-SQL datasets in non-English languages. Additionally, we focus on large language model (LLM) based approaches for the Text-to-SQL task, where we examine LLM-based studies in the literature and subsequently evaluate the LLMs on the cross-domain Spider dataset. Its preservation is a strong commitment to humanity. The main motivation for this project is based on this understanding and arose from the need for the proper and scientifically documented recording of cultural heritage (CH), both movable and immovable monuments of ecclesiastical cultural treasures. Despite its significance, the systematic documentation of ecclesiastical heritage remains fragmented, lacking a standardized and scientifically driven approach. This research addresses this critical gap by developing a structured methodology for the recording, organization, and digital archiving of ecclesiastical CH monuments. This was accomplished by codifying the actual recording and documentation needs for the ecclesiastical cultural treasures, with the systematic study of the users’ needs. The study focused on the region of Thrace, encompassing areas of Greece, Turkey, and Bulgaria, where post-Byzantine ecclesiastical treasures are expected to be in abundance. Through the design and implementation of surveys and metadata collection, this project has the capacity to facilitate digital transformation across the interconnected fields of religion, arts, and CH. Stakeholders from diverse backgrounds, both within and outside the clergy community, including owners and end-users connected to ecclesiastical cultural treasures, were actively involved in the process. The COVID-19 pandemic underscored the vital role of building distance communication channels and promoting digital transformation across the interconnected fields of religion and cultural heritage. The key features of the scheme include CVP-IPS based construction, the utilization of two public keys by the scheme, a distinct basis set designated for each class, a direct access scheme to enhance user convenience, and a rigorous mathematical and algorithmic presentation of all processes. This scheme eliminates the need for top-down structures and offers a significant benefit in that the lengths of the basis sets defined for classes are the same and the costs associated with key derivation are the same for all classes, unlike top-down approaches, where the higher class in the hierarchy generally incurs much higher costs. The scheme excels in both vertical and horizontal scalability due to its utilization of the access graph and is formally proven to achieve strong key indistinguishability security (S-KI-security). To achieve this, an integral operator thatmaps the unknown boundary of the object onto the far-field pattern of thescattered field is defined and solved for the unknown boundary. The addressedinverse problem has an ill-posed nature and inherits nonlinearity. To over-come these, the proposed solution is linearized via Newton and regularized byTikhonov in the sense of least squares. Besides, the dominance of the shadowregion in the inverse-imaging process is exceeded by considering the superpo-sition of multi-incoming plane waves, leading to less computational cost and avery fast inversion process. Covid-19 pandemisinin ortaya çıkması ile kognitif değerlendirmelerde telenöropsikoloji kullanımı önemli bir artış göstermiştir. Bu derlemede telenöropsikoloji ile ilgili yapılan çalışmaların sonuçlarının ve telenöropsikolojik değerlendirme ile ilgili temel esasların eleştirel bir şekilde gözden geçirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Buna ek olarak, bu derlemede Türkiye uygulamaları için geliştirilmiş “ev temelli telenöropsikoloji uygulama rehberi” genel hatları ile paylaşılmıştır. Bulgular: Klinik temelli ve ev temelli telenöropsikolojik değerlendirme ile ilgili çalışmaların sonuçları dikkat, bellek, yürütücü işlevler ve dil gibi kognitif işlevleri değerlendiren ve özellikle sözel uygulamaya dayanan nöropsikolojik testlerin telenöropsikolojik değerlendirmede güvenilir bir şekilde uygulanabileceğini göstermektedir. Fakat telenöropsikolojik değerlendirmeye alınacak hastaların yönlendirilmesinde, değerlendirmede kullanılacak testlerin seçiminde ve etik konularda dikkat edilmesi gereken unsurlar bulunmaktadır. This study included 176 children and adolescents (92 boys, 84 girls) who were diagnosed with ADHD + CDS according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the Fifth Edition criteria by a fellowship-trained child and adolescent psychiatrist, between ages 8 -12 (M = 10, SD = 1.52) with a convenience sampling method. The solitude scale for children, difficulties in emotion dysregulation scale, Child Behavior Checklist, Barkley Sluggish Cognitive Tempo Scale, Family assessment device, and CNS Vital Signs test were used. The results showed that difficulty in emotion regulation, preference for loneliness, internalizing disorders and CDS symptom severity did not have a mediating effect between family functionality and EF. Still, emotion dysregulation mediates the relationship between EF and internalizing disorders by itself and through loneliness preference. Also, preference for loneliness and emotion dysregulation had a mediating effect between family functionality and internalizing disorders. Finally, it was found that the effect of emotion regulation difficulty, loneliness preference, and internalizing disorders had a mediating role between CDS symptom severity and family functionality. Its negative impact not only changed the human health system tragically but also disrupted the global economic system. One negative result was ended up in the global food supply chain. As the lockdown times have suspended the manufacturing and logistic activities, therefore, the customers have experienced unimaginable chaos in the shopping markets. Moreover, the purchasing habit of the consumers has remarkably changed compared to pre-pandemic. To meet this new demand pattern, many grocery retailers have tried to adapt to the new normal. While before COVID-19 offline grocery purchasing was popular, after the pandemic, online service got tremendous attention in market. In this study, online grocery supply chain management during the COVID-19 in Istanbul is considered. The aim is to find out how online grocery companies will serve more efficiently during the pandemics and which factors have more effect on the customer’s satisfaction. To do so, first, three popular grocery retailers in Istanbul were selected. Then, a related survey was designed to understand the consumer experience as doing online grocery shopping in COVID-19. Unsurprisingly, a result shows that 60% of the respondents did online shopping every 3-4 days in one week, and the delivery time is the most important factor for the customers. Then, the SWOT analyses were performed accordingly, and the related strategies were summarized. Finally, several managerial implications were given to may improve the company’s online services in COVID-19 and post COVID-19 in Turkey.Yayın EMDR Flash technique in adolescents with depression: a twelve-week follow-up study(Sage Publications Inc, 2024-07) İnci İzmir, Sevim Berrin; Çitil Akyol, CananThis study aims to investigate the specific effects of the EMDR Flash Technique on adolescents with depression. This follow-up study consists of 32 adolescents, 12-17 years of age (M = 14.34, SD = 1.56), including 7 males and 25 females. They were evaluated with Kiddie Schedule for Affective Disorders and Schizophrenia for School-Age Children Present, the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), and Children Revised Impact of Event Scale-8 (Cries-8). These were administered at baseline, at the end of the 4th and 12th weeks of treatment. The EMDR Flash Technique which can be utilized in the preparation phase of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to reduce the intensity of highly distressing memories rapidly and relatively painlessly was applied for 12 weeks, one session per week as a free-standing intervention. Also, the EMDR Flash Technique can be effective in decreasing the rate of noncompliance and drop-outs of adolescents. The baseline means of total BDI scores decreased from 48.19 to 2.16 at the end of the 12th week of treatment. Also, the CRIES scores decreased from 31.78 to 0.44 at the end of the 12th week of treatment. In addition, the baseline means of SUD scores decreased from 9.53 to zero at the end of the 12th week of treatment. Overall, our results underscore the effectiveness of the EMDR-Flash Technique in adolescents with depression. Depression is a significant mental health concern for adolescents due to its early onset and chronic nature. Depression can be observed in conjunction with PTSD, and sometimes, depressive symptoms may transform into traumatic experiences. EMDR is an 8-stage protocol that includes history taking, preparation, assessment, desensitization, installation, body scan, closure, and reevaluation, used to alleviate the effects of traumatic experiences. It is hypothesized that unpleasant and traumatic events are stored in a dysfunctional way, and it promotes an adaptive processing and resolution of the traumatic experience. The goal of EMDR is to achieve an adequate processing of negative experiences and to create new adaptive information. The EMDR Flash Technique (FT) is utilized in the preparation phase of EMDR to reduce the intensity of highly distressing memories rapidly and relatively painlessly. Although a few studies have shown that the FT is effective in adults, there is only one study to investigate the effectiveness of the FT in children and adolescents. This research, in determining the efficacy of the EMDR FT on adolescents with depression, particularly focused on depression symptoms and assessed the observed changes in these symptoms. It aims to evaluate the specific effects of EMDR-FT on adolescents with depression, providing a unique perspective compared to previous research that has mainly focused on broader mental health disorder indicators. It is hypothesized that EMDR-FT is an effective therapy for treating adolescents with Depression. In the present study, adolescents with depression showed significant improvements in symptom severity and their traumatic events impact levels decreased. As a result of our study, a 12-week EMDR-FT treatment was observed to be effective for adolescents with depression and in reducing and improving traumatic stress levels and depression. Our results underscore the effectiveness of the EMDR-FT in adolescents with depression.Yayın Paradox of optimism: opposition coordination against autocratic incumbents in Turkey’s 2019 and 2023 elections(Routledge, 2024) Balta, Evren; Demiralp, SedaIn the 2019 local and 2023 general elections, Turkey’s opposition parties joined forces in pursuit of a common objective: to oust autocratic incumbents and democratize the political system. While they achieved noteworthy successes in 2019, replicating these gains in the 2023 presidential and parliamentary elections proved elusive. This study reveals that coordinating opposition efforts becomes more challenging during general elections, particularly when a charismatic presidential candidate, capable of fostering synergy among opposition factions and voters, is absent. Additionally, when opposition parties span the ideological spec-trum, crafting a unified campaign around a shared manifesto becomes more intricate. The resulting atmosphere of uncertainty is exacerbated further in the absence of decisive leadership. Most importantly, the research highlights a paradox: as optimism for electoral victory grows, parties become more inclined to form alliances but less willing to nominate a strong leader, due to con-cerns about power-sharing overshadowing electoral success. The unknown surface profile, which is expressed as a 1D height function, is either perfectly electric conducting (PEC) or an interface between two penetrable media. For both cases, it is assumed that the surface is illuminated by a number of line sources located in the upper medium. The scattered fields, which should be collected by real measurements in practical applications, are obtained synthetically by solving the associated direct scattering problem through the surface integral equations. RTM is subsequently applied to generate a cross-correlation imaging functional which is evaluated numerically and provides a 2D image of the region of interest. A high correlation is observed by the functional in the regions where the transitions between two media occur. Hence, it results in the acquisition of the unknown surface profile at the sites where the functional attains its highest values. The efficiency of the proposed method is comprehensively tested by numerical examples covering various types of scattering scenarios.Yayın Microservices-based databank for Turkish hazelnut cultivars using IoT and semantic web technologies(John Wiley and Sons Ltd, 2024-03-30) Aydın, Şahin; Aldara, DieaaInformation and communication technologies (ICTs) can play a crucial role in facilitating access to comprehensive information on the quality standards of Turkish hazelnut cultivars. In this regard, this study introduces a Hazelnut Databank System (HDS) that utilizes the microservices architecture, an integrated software system supported by the Internet of Things (IoT) and semantic web, to categorize Turkish hazelnut cultivars. The study focuses on developing microservices using various programming languages and frameworks. Specifically, C# on the.NET Core Framework was used for both microservices and the web-based application implemented through the ASP.NET Core MVC Framework. Mobile-based software applications were created using Xamarin. Forms, and the IoT application was developed using the Python programming language. The data storage is facilitated through the MS SQL Server database. Additionally, the study incorporates the implementation of a hazelnut species classification system using the DNN + ResNet50 machine learning model, achieving an impressive accuracy rate of 95.77%. The overall usability of the system was evaluated, resulting in a score of 42 out of 50. By providing detailed information on Turkish hazelnut cultivars, the HDS has the potential to greatly improve hazelnut production quality in Turkey and increase awareness of hazelnut agriculture among relevant stakeholders.Yayın Aesculus hippocastanum alleviates diabetic neuropathy by reducing MMP-9 and MMP-10 levels(Asian Network Scientific Information-ANSINET, 2023) Gönüllü, Edip; Dağıstan, Gözde; Özsezer, Yakup; Erdoğan, Mümin Alper; Erbaş, OytunBackground and Objective: Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is a prevalent complication of diabetes, characterized by neuropathic pain and motor dysfunction. The role of oxidative stress and inflammation in DN pathophysiology is well-documented. This study aims to evaluate the therapeutic potential of Aesculus hippocastanum (AH) in mitigating DN symptoms, focusing on its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Materials and Methods: The study utilized 40 adult male Wistar rats, divided into four groups: Control, diabetic and two AH-treated groups (receiving 10 mg kgG1 and 20 mg kgG1 AH, respectively). Diabetes was induced using streptozotocin (STZ) injections. Evaluations included lipid peroxidation (via malondialdehyde levels), matrix metalloproteinases (MMP-9 and MMP-10) levels, electrophysiological records (assessing compound muscle action potential), histopathological examination of the sciatic nerve and motor function tests (using an inclined plane). Results: The AH-treated groups exhibited a significant reduction in MDA levels, indicating decreased lipid peroxidation. Plasma MMP-9 and MMP-10 levels were also lower in these groups, suggesting reduced inflammation. Electrophysiological records showed increased CMAP amplitudes and decreased distal latency in AH-treated rats, indicative of improved nerve conduction. Histopathological examination revealed reduced perineural thickness in the sciatic nerve of AH-treated rats, suggesting less fibrosis. In motor function tests, AH-treated rats demonstrated enhanced performance, implying improved muscle strength and motor capacity. Conclusion: The findings indicate that AH treatment effectively reduces oxidative stress and inflammation in a rat model of diabetic neuropathy, leading to improved neuropathic symptoms. LeventThe study investigated the impact of climate and land cover change on water quality. The novel contribution of the study was to investigate the individual and combined impacts of climate and land cover change on water quality with high spatial and temporal resolution in a basin in Turkey. The global circulation model MPI-ESM-MR was dynamically downscaled to 10-km resolution under the RCP8.5 emission scenario. The Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) was used to model stream flow and nitrate loads. The land cover model outputs that were produced by the Land Change Modeler (LCM) were used for these simulation studies. Results revealed that decreasing precipitation intensity driven by climate change could significantly reduce nitrate transport to surface waters. In the 2075–2100 period, nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N) loads transported to surface water decreased by more than 75%. Furthermore, the transition predominantly from forestry to pastoral farming systems increased loads by about 6%. The study results indicated that fine-resolution land use and climate data lead to better model performance. Environmental managers can also benefit greatly from the LCM-based forecast of land use changes and the SWAT model’s attribution of changes in water quality to land use changes.
