Özet
Vehicle placement problem involves assignment of parking or storage location to cars, vans, and trucks in a two dimensional closed environment such as garages, barges, freighters. This paper proposes a procedure for finding the best position of a given sized vehicle inside a ferryboat under first come first served sequencing rule restriction. The problem at hand may be thought as a sub-echelon of the well-known cutting stock and packing algorithm, and utilizes both philosphy in the solution procedure. Economical and operational effect of the proposed procedure with application on a real ferry line is also illustrated.
