Özet
Mekan tasarımı, bireyin fiziksel, psikolojik, sosyolojik özellikleri açısından gündelik yaşamının bir parçasıdır. Tasarım, normal bir birey için bir gereklilik oluşturuyorsa, engelli birey için de eşit kullanım hakkı getirmektedir. Engelli birey de toplum içerisinde farklı olarak algılanmamalı, mekan çözümlemelerinde engeller düşünülerek tasarım yapılmalıdır. Mekan içerisindeki fonksiyonların amaç ve kullanımı, engelli bireye yönelik işlevsel olması gerekmektedir. Özellikle zihinsel, bedensel ve görme engellilerin sosyal yaşamına etki edecek tasarımlar yaşama daha kolay tutunmaları açısından önemli yer tutmaktadır. Engelli bireyin yaşam alanları tasarlanırken, tüm gereksinimine cevap veren detay çözümler, standartlar düşünülerek proje uygulamaları yapılmalıdır. Bu anlamda, engelli bireyin yaşamını kolaylaştıracak çözümlerin konut, kamu, eğitim yapılarının yanı sıra otel yapılarında da önemli bir yeri olmaktadır. Özellikle, engelli birey düşünülerek yapılmış olan otel yapısı oldukça azdır. Örneğin Türkiye'de engellilere yönelik bir tatil köyünün veya otel yapısının olmadığı dikkat çekmektedir. Bu anlamda İstanbul'daki farklı mekan tipolojileri incelenmiş, özellikle otel yapılarının engelli bireye ne derece hizmet ettiği irdelenmiştir. Araştırmalarda engelli bireyin gereksinimleri doğrultusunda ulaşılabilir, engelsiz otel tasarımlarının sayıca az olduğu ve mekansal açıdan kullanım zorluklarının yaşandığı izlenmiştir. Bu nedenle, bu tezde engelli bireyin yaşamını kısıtlı hale getirmeyen ve ailesiyle bir arada konaklayıp, tatil yapabilecekleri otel yapılarına çözüm önerileri getirilmiştir.
Design of space is part of mır everyday life for the physical, psychological and sociological characteristics of the individual. If design is a necessity for the normal individual it should also bring equal arnounts of usage rights to the disabled. Disabled individuals shouldn't be regerded as different within the society and space solutions should be designed taking disabilities into account. The usage of the facilities within the space should be functionally avaliable to the disabled. Designs that have positive irnpacts on the lives of the rnentally, physically disabled and the blind hold a crucial role in rnaking it easier for thern to hold on to their lives. When designing the living spaces of the disabled, project applications should be executed considering detailed solutions and standards that would offer answers to all the requierernents. In this context, solutions that would ease the lives of the disabled play an essential role in hotel constructions as well as residential, public and educational buildings. The nurnber of hotels built regarding the disabled especially is fairly low. It's rernarkable that there are no holiday resorts or hotels in Turkey addressing the disabled. Regarding this, various location typologies in İstanbul have been studied and the way how well hotels can serve the disabled has especially been exarnined. Consequently during this research, it has been observed that the nurnber of undisabled, accessible hotel designs is low in nurnber and difficulties in using spaces have been observed. For this reason solutions for hotel constructions that will not limit the lives of the disabled and where the disabled would be able to accornrnodate and have a holiday together have been suggested.
