Özet
İzleyicinin bakışını sınırlayan pencere, onun bilindik dünyasındaki kısıtlanmış özgürlüğü ve mahremiyeti sembolize eder. Burada kullanılan kısıtlama terimi negatif bir söylemden çok pozitif bir söylemi destekler. Tıpkı gözün geniş açısının kısıtlısınırlı netliğinin görme eylemini ortaya çıkarması gibi pencere de görülmesi gerekeni izleyiciye sunar, fokal bir mercek görevi görür. Sanatçı pencere metaforu ile izleyicini bakışını toplumsal olaylara veya kendisine çevirir ve bilgiyi sunar. Modernizmin özelliklerinden olan; varlık, merkezleme, metafor kullanımı, biçim, mesafe, sınır gibi özelliklerinden bir çoğunu kendisinde barındıran pencere metaforu, sanatçıların çalışmalarında postmodernist bir bakış açısıyla göçebeliğe, yersizliğe, özgürlük ve mahremiyet ihlallerine göndermelerde bulunur. Bakış açısını tek bir noktadan, bir çok noktaya, tek bir doğrudan bir çok doğruya yönlendirir.
The window that limits the viewpoint of the viewer symbolises the limited freedom and privacy in his familiar world. The term “limit” supports more a positive discourse rather than a negative one. Just like the clarity of the restricted-limited wide angle of the eye reveals the vision, the window reveals the viewer what is to be seen. It acts as a focal lens. The artist uses the window metaphore to divert the gaze of the viewer to social issues or himself and presents the information. The window metaphor which incorprates many charactristics of modernism. Such as existence, centering, use of metaphor, form and border refers to nomadism, homelesness and violation of freedom and privacy by postmodernist perspective at the studies of the artist. The artistry canalize the vision of the audience to point to multipoint and umpteen truths.
