Yayın Ex-libris in Turkey(İstanbul Ekslibris Derneği, 2016-07-01) Pektaş, HasipEx-libris has been introduced to Turkey either by Turks going abroad or via books purchased from the West. Ex-librises are found in some books on Turkey bought from auctions conducted in the West. It can be argued that those who have first got ex-librises made in the real sense in Turkey were the expatriate bibliophiles of that period. The number of bibliophiles as well as others, who get ex-librises done as a measure against theft by borrowers of books from their libraries, is increasing every other day. First established in Ankara in 1997, the Ex-libris Society in our country has continued its activities in Istanbul under the name of the Istanbul Ex-libris Society since 2008. Istanbul Ex-libris Museum was moved to new locality Işik University in Maslak in 2014. The collection of more than 17.000 ex-librises and library has created great opportunuties for researchers.Yayın A university museum: Istanbul Ex-libris Museum(İstanbul Ekslibris Derneği, 2016-07-01) Pektaş, HasipMuseums are cultural institutions that pass the treasures they host on to the future generations. The mission of modern museology is to educate the community and to contribute to its sociocultural development. Museums should not only be fostered by the state but all the segments of the society. Creating knowledge and carrying it on to the future generations, universities can be the leaders of museography. The communication and interaction of the museum and university with the public can be facilitated. There are only 38 university museums in Turkey. One of them is Istanbul Exlibris Museum (IEM) in Işık University. Small but highly functional museum has a collection of great value. Ex-libris are printmaking artwork affixed to the inside cover of books and contain the name of the owner of book. Istanbul Ex-Libris Society has organized three international competitions under the leadership of Hasip Pektas and the collected pieces of ex-libris have found a venue within the premises of Işık University. IEM has 14,000 pieces of ex-libris. All students visit the museum and participate in workshops. The goal of the museum is to remain for the future as an online museum. Batıda yapılan müzayedelerden alınan Türkiye ile ilgili bazı kitaplarda ekslibrislere rastlanmaktadır. Türkiye’de adına gerçek anlamda ilk ekslibris yaptıranların, o dönemin yabancı uyruklu kitapseverleri olduğu söylenebilir. Kitap tutkunları ile kütüphanesinden ödünç alınıp geri getirilmeyen kitaplara önlem olarak ekslibris yaptıranlar her geçen gün artmaktadır. İlk olarak 1997 yılında Ankara’da kurulan Ekslibris Derneği, 2008’den bu yana etkinliklerine İstanbul’da İstanbul Eklibris Derneği olarak devam etmektedir. İstanbul Ekslibris Müzesi 2014 yılında yeni yeri olan Maslak’taki Işık Üniversitesi’ne taşınmıştır. 17.000’in üzerindeki ekslibris koleksiyonu ve kitaplığı ile araştırmacılara fırsat yaratmıştır.
