Yayın The effect of the interaction between autistic traits and psychotic proneness on empathy: a cross-sectional study with a non-clinical sample(Emerald Publishing, 2023-11-08) Yıldırım, ElifPurpose: Recent evidence indicates an improving effect of the co-occurrence of autistic traits and psychotic symptoms on social cognition, but there is no agreement on the effect of the interaction between autistic traits and psychotic proneness on empathy. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of the interaction between autistic traits and positive psychotic experiences on cognitive and affective empathy. Design/methodology/approach: The sample consisted of 420 adults aged between 18 and 60. Assessments were administered anonymously online. Empathic abilities were evaluated by the Interpersonal Reactivity Index (IRI). While Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ) was applied to measure autistic traits, The Community Assessment of Psychic Experience (CAPE) was used as a measurement of positive psychotic experiences. Findings: A series of regression analyses showed that although AQ and CAPE scores were not correlated with cognitive-IRI, the interaction between these scores predicted cognitive-IRI scores. It was found that the personal distress subscale of IRI was significantly associated with AQ, but this relationship was moderated by CAPE scores. Originality/value: These findings provide a different perspective on understanding social cognitive impairments in autism, which may have potential clinical implications. Although karma is a very complex issue, since anyone committing evil acts can claim to be a mere agent of karma delivering punishment to others for sins they committed in their past lives, it is true that according to karma, our actions have consequences which affect the entirety of our lives, and this can also be seen as free will. Yet while this approach tends to focus on the action and reaction mechanisms of life, the flow of life in the universe should still be carefully contemplated, since if we believe the first story, Pi's survival not only depends on his choices, but also on the opportunities that the universe offers him. In that sense, if we are to accept God as the soul of the universe, then the universal spirit must be omnipresent and omnipotent while also capable of transforming into anything in terms of s panentheistic approach. The aim of this study was to assess the validity and reliability of a Turkish version of the PBS in a nonclinical sample. Method: A total of 457 adult participants aged 18-64 years were enrolled in this study. Internal consistency, test-retest reliability and structure, concurrent and criterion-related predictive validity analyses were conducted to ensure reliability and validity for use of the scale with a Turkish population. As part of the validity study, all of the participants were asked to complete a battery of self-report scales: the Compulsive Buying Scale, the Brief Symptom Inventory, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Barratt Impulsiveness Scale-Short Form, and the PBS. In order to examine the test-retest reliability, 75 participants were asked to complete the questionnaire once again 2 weeks after the first administration. Results: The results of this study revealed that the PBS had good internal consistency and test-retest reliability. The findings supported concurrent and criterion-related predictive validity, and a 2-factor structure, consistent with the original form. However, the existing indoor VLC systems are limited by detrimental outages caused by fluctuations in the VLC channel gain because of user mobility. In this study, we proposed a tractable path loss model for indoor VLC that reflects the effect of room size and coating material of surfaces. We performed an extensive advanced ray tracing simulation to obtain the channel impulse responses within a room and presented a path loss model as a function of distance, room size, and coating material through curve fitting. In addition, path loss parameters such as the path loss exponent and the standard deviation of the shadowing component were determined. The simulation results indicate that path loss is a linear function of distance, path loss exponent is a function of room size and coating material, and shadowing follows a log normal distribution.Yayın ISSR genotyping of Phoenix theophrasti natural populations in Turkey and Crete (Greece) and P. Dactylifera(John Wiley and Sons Inc, 2021-10) Boydak, Melih; Teker, Tuğba; Gazdağlı, Aylin; Thanos, Costas A.; Çalışkan, Servet; Kaltsis, Apostolis; Çalikoğlu Tozlu, Emine; Fournaraki, Christini; Albayrak, GülruhIntraspecific and interspecific diversity between Phoenix theophrasti individuals (92 from Turkey and 70 from Crete, Greece) and P. dactylifera specimens (28 from Turkey) were investigated by inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) analysis. A total of 45 polymorphic fragments, 360–3454 bps long, were produced. Intraspecific diversity for P. dactylifera was 26.63% and similarities ranged between 0.5 and 1. In the constructed dendrogram, P. dactylifera specimens clustered together in the first main group, outside branches consisting of P. theophrasti samples that generated the second main group. The intraspecific diversity for Turkish P. theophrasti populations was found to be 18.60% and for Cretan populations 13.45%. Antalya–Kumluca–Karaöz samples were grouped outside the branches of the remaining P. theophrasti samples. All three Cretan populations formed their own, separate branch. Datça–Eksera Stream samples together with two Datça–Hurmalıbük specimens constituted a group excluding Datça–Hurmalıbük and Bodrum–Gölköy specimens. Five Bodrum–Gölköy genotypes were clustered separately. Gene flow (Nm) values among populations were estimated from 0.157 to 59.615. AMOVA analysis revealed the percentages of variance among and within Phoenix populations: 73% and 27%, respectively. The first three principal coordinate components accounted for 37.60, 29.32 and 20.04%, respectively, thus the total variance obtained from the first three principal coordinate components was 86.96%. A positive correlation between geographic and genetic distances of populations was detected by Mantel tests (Rx,y = 0.44, p = 0.04). The populations were classified into four clusters by STRUCTURE analysis, supported the PCoA data. To conclude, ISSR results support that P. dactylifera and P. theophrasti are different species. By employing an asymptotic perturbation method it is shown that the balance between the weak nonlinearity and dispersion yields a coupled nonlinear Schrödinger (CNLS) equation for the slowly varying amplitudes of the fundamental wave and its fifth harmonic component. A labor demand estimation model based on multidimensional panel data from 2010 to 2019 was utilized. Findings from our macroeconomic analysis of eight different industries refute the predictions of neoclassical labor theory in the region. The results further indicate the presence of jobless growth in the areas of overall employment, fulltime employment, and overall employees. They also signal that economic growth may have created job opportunities in part-time and youth employment, and among temporary employees, rather than full-time jobs.
