Yayın Shocks in quasi-one-dimensional bubbly cavitating nozzle flows(Springer Berlin Heidelberg, 2013-01-01) Delale, Can Fuat; Schnerr, Giinter H.; Pasinlioǧlu, ŞenayStationary and propagating shock waves in bubbly cavitating flows through quasi-one-dimensional converging-diverging nozzles are considered by employing a homogeneous bubbly liquid flow model, where the nonlinear dynamics of cavitating bubbles is described by a modified Rayleigh-Plesset equation. The model equations are uncoupled by scale separation leading to two evolution equations, one for the flow speed and the other for the bubble radius. The initial/boundary value problem of the evolution equations is then formulated and a semi-analytical solution is constructed. The solution for the mixture pressure, the mixture density and the void fraction are then explicitly related to the solution of the evolution equations. The steady-state compressible limit of the solution with stationary shocks is obtained and the stability of such shocks are examined. Finally, results obtained using the semi-analytical constructed algorithm for propagating shock waves in bubbly cavitating flows through converging-diverging nozzles, which agree with those of previous numerical investigations, are presented.Yayın A source seeking algorithm with application to a quadcopter model(Nova Science Publishers, 2019-01-01) Dinçmen, ErkinA novel extremum seeking (ES) algorithm is developed and its performance is tested on a quadcopter type unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) model. The motivation of the paper is to develop an ES algorithm that results no oscillations in the system behaviour during the search process. Via the proposed algorithm, the quadcopter searches autonomously a signal source/target without knowing its location a priory. The controller does not use any position or GPS measurements. The presented control algorithm is composed of two phases: In the first phase, the search algorithm determines required translational acceleration values of the UAV. In the second phase, a PID-type controller is utilized to control roll and pitch angles of the UAV to maintain computed acceleration values via the search algorithm. Performance of the controller is evaluated via simulation studies.Yayın Manufacturing techniques of bulk metallic glasses(Wiley, 2019-08-16) Bakkal, Mustafa; Karagüzel, Umut; Kuzu, Ali Taner; Koç, Muammer; Özel, TuğrulThis chapter discusses some of the most common metallic glass sheets, ribbons, and bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) rod, bar, and plate manufacturing methods. The discussed methods include: rapid quenching methods, water-quenching method, arc melting drop/suction casting method, high-pressure die casting method, copper mold casting method, cap casting method, centrifugal casting method, and metal foaming method. Water quenching method is one of the easiest methods to obtain amorphous microstructure for some BMG alloys. Method includes a sequence of heating and quenching processes. Another BMG manufacturing method is arc melting method with a special combination of different casting methods. Arc melting and drop casting methods are well established and known processes for BMG alloys. Drop casting is typically used to process materials with diameters larger than 6mm, while suction casting is used for casting of materials with diameters under 6mm.
