Work in process (WIP) in each facility participating in the SC, finished goods inventory, and backlogged demand costs are minimized over the planning horizon. In addition to the usual modeling of linear material flow balance equations, variable lead time (LT) requirements, resulting from the increasing incremental WIP as a facility's utilization increases, are also modeled. In recognition of the emerging significance of quality of service (QoS), that is control of stockout probability to meet demand on time, maximum stockout probability constraints are also modeled explicitly. Lead time and QoS modeling require incorporation of nonlinear constraints in the production planning optimization process. The quantification of these nonlinear constraints must capture statistics of the stochastic behaviour of production facilities revealed during a time scale for shorter than the customary weekly time scale of the planning process. The apparent computational complexity of planning production against variable LT and QoS constraints has long resulted in MRP-based scheduling practices that ignore the LT and QoS constraints has long resulted in MRP-based scheduling practices that ignore the LT and QoS impact to the plan's detriment. The computational complexity challenge was overcome by proposing and adopting a time-scale decomposition approach to production planning where short-time-scale stochastic dynamics are modeled in multiple facility-specific subproblems that receive tentative targets from a deterministic master problem and return statistics to it. In this paper, we focus on indoor Visible Light Communication (VLC)-based Medical Body Sensor Networks (MBSNs) which allow the Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to communicate between on-body sensors/subdermal implants and on-body central hubs/monitoring devices while also serving as a luminaire. Since the Quality-of-Service (QoS) of the communication systems depends heavily on realistic channel modeling and characterization, this paper aims at presenting an up-to-date survey of works on channel modeling activities for MBSNs. The first part reviews existing IR-based MBSNs channel models based on which VLC channel models are derived. The second part of this review provides details on existing VLC-based MBSNs channel models according to the mobility of the MBSNs on the patient’s body. In particular, the emergence of new B5G-based applications with quality of service (QoS) requirements and massive connectivity has recently led to research on the required service-levels and the development of improved physical (PHY) layer methods. As part of recent VLC standards development activities, the IEEE has formed the 802.11bb “Light Communications (LC) for Wireless Local Area Networking” standardization group. This paper investigates the network requirements of 5G indoor services such as virtual reality (VR) and high-definition (HD) video for residential environments using VLC. In this paper, we consider such typical VLC scenarios with additional impairments such as light-emitting diode (LED) nonlinearity and imperfect channel feedback, and propose hyperparameter-free mitigation techniques using Reproducing Kernel Hilbert Space (RKHS) methods. In this context, we also propose using a direct current biased optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DCO-OFDM)-based adaptive VLC transmission method that uses precomputed bit error rate (BER) expressions for these RKHS-based detection methods and performs adaptive BER-based modulation-order switching. Simulations of channel impulse responses (CIRs) show that the adaptive transmission method provides significantly improved error rate performance, which makes it promising for high data rate VLC-based 5G indoor services.Yayın QoS-constrained core selection for group communication(IEEE, 2005) Karaman, Ayşe; Hassanein, HossamThe core-based approach in multipoint communication enhances the solution space in terms of QoS-efficiency of solutions in inter and intra-domain routing. In an earlier work [KH04], we showed that the constrained cost minimization solutions in core-based approach proposed to date are restrictive in their search to a subrange of solutions, and we proposed SPAN, a generic framework to process in our identified extended solution space. In this paper, we study the core selection component of SPAN and propose two novel algorithms, SPAN/COST and SPAN/ADJUST, which define the core-selection component of SPAN. SPAN/COST mainly optimizes the cost distances to be traveled between the source-core and core-receiver pairs on the multicast trees, while SPAN/ADJUST selects the cores based on the numbers of nodes they dominate and adjusting the set based on cost. Our algorithms consistently outperform their counterparts proposed to date and can be considered pioneering in their optimization range of multiple metrics and processing in the extended solution space.Yayın Constraint-based routing in traffic engineering(IEEE, 2006) Karaman, AyşeTraffic engineering (TE) describes a domain-wide perspective for traffic control as opposed to application-specific concerns of QoS. MPLS is today's most powerful architecture for TE. Constraint-based routing refers to the process of path assignment to flows to fulfill the TE objective which has been defined in a number of multi-constraint ways, and is the most significant component of TE. In this paper, we review constraint-based routing algorithms. We first provide an overview of MPLS/TE and place constraint-based routing within this approach. We then look into the potential path attributes and the underlying platform to characterize these algorithms before we present our review. Our study provides a comprehensive reference to the operational structure and specifications of constraint-based routing algorithms.
