Yayın Behavior of quantum fisher information of bell pairs under decoherence channels(Polish Acad Sciences Inst Physics, 2014-02) Özaydın, Fatih; Altıntaş, Azmi Ali; Buğu, Sinan; Yeşilyurt, CanQuantum Fisher information has recently been an essential tool for analyzing the phase sensitivity of the quantum states in various quantum tasks, requiring high precision, such as quantum clock synchronization, positioning and many applications which include quantum interferometers. Due to the interactions with the environment, all quantum systems are subject to various decoherence effects. Therefore the research on quantum Fisher information under decoherence has been recently attracting more attention. In this work, analyzing the quantum Fisher information, we study the phase sensitivity of bipartite quantum correlations, in particular four Bell pairs amplitude damping channels. For a specific Bell state we arrive at similar results of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states (as expected). For the other three Bell states, we present our results which point the interesting behavior of quantum Fisher information with respect to the decoherence rate. We also find the regions where the quantum Fisher information exhibits discontinuities.Yayın A broadband microwave amplifier design by means of immittance based data modelling tool(IEEE, 2002) Kılınç, Ali; Pınarbaşı, Hacı; Şengül, Metin; Yarman, Bekir Sıddık BinboğaIn this paper a practical broadband microwave amplifier design algorithm is introduced utilizing the immittance data-modelling tool. In the course of design, first, the optimum input and output terminations for the active device are produced employing the real frequency technique. Then, these terminations are modelled utilizing the new immittance-modelling tool to synthesize the front-end and back-end matching networks. An example is included to exhibit the implementation of the proposed design algorithm to construct a single stage BJT amplifier over a wide frequency band. It is expected that the proposed design algorithm will find applications to realize wideband microwave amplifiers put on MMIC for mobile communication.Yayın Regularizing soft decision trees(Springer, 2013) Yıldız, Olcay Taner; Alpaydın, Ahmet İbrahim EthemRecently, we have proposed a new decision tree family called soft decision trees where a node chooses both its left and right children with different probabilities as given by a gating function, different from a hard decision node which chooses one of the two. In this paper, we extend the original algorithm by introducing local dimension reduction via L-1 and L-2 regularization for feature selection and smoother fitting. We compare our novel approach with the standard decision tree algorithms over 27 classification data sets. We see that both regularized versions have similar generalization ability with less complexity in terms of number of nodes, where L-2 seems to work slightly better than L-1.Yayın Efficient quality of multimedia experience using perceptual quality metrics(Springer-Verlag Berlin, 2016) Gaurav, Rahul; Ateş, Hasan FehmiAlthough there are very few metrics which correlate well with the Human Visual System (HVS), most of them do not. We extensively studied about the Video Quality Assessment (VQA) of 2D svideos for enhancing the Quality of Experience (QoE) using better Quality of Service (QoS). We propose a solution which helps us to find a high correlation between HVS and the objective metrics using Perceptual Quality Metrics (PQM). The motive behind this work is to introduce an objective metric that is adequate to predict the Mean Opinion Score (MOS) of distorted video sequences based on the Full Reference (FR) method.Yayın Constructing a Turkish constituency parse treeBank(Springer Verlag, 2016) Yıldız, Olcay Taner; Solak, Ercan; Çandır, Şemsinur; Ehsani, Razieh; Görgün, OnurIn this paper, we describe our initial efforts for creating a Turkish constituency parse treebank by utilizing the English Penn Treebank. We employ a semiautomated approach for annotation. In our previouswork [18], the English parse trees were manually translated to Turkish. In this paper, the words are semi-automatically annotated morphologically. As a second step, a rule-based approach is used for refining the parse trees based on the morphological analyses of the words. We generated Turkish phrase structure trees for 5143 sentences from Penn Treebank that contain fewer than 15 tokens. The annotated corpus can be used in statistical natural language processing studies for developing tools such as constituency parsers and statistical machine translation systems for Turkish.Yayın Virtual team effectiveness using dyadic teams(IEEE, 2007) Karayaz, Gamze; Keating, Charles B.The importance of effectiveness for virtual teamwork continues to gain momentum as technology and globalization of work accelerate. The implementation of virtual teams provides one approach to enhance competitiveness, overcoming the disadvantages of space and time differences through collaborative technologies. The influence of structure to virtual team performance has not been clearly established in the literature. The purpose of this research study was to investigate the effectiveness of a dyad structured approach for virtual teams using a quasi-experimental research design. A virtual dyadic team is considered as two person-structured teams working on a particular task in a virtual collaborative environment. This research investigated four questions related to the influence of structure on virtual team effectiveness related to task performance, communication frequency, and team satisfaction. The results showed significance differences between the two virtual teams. Dyadic teams performed better in arriving at the task solution using less communication to finish the task. Dyadic teams were also more satisfied with their task solution than the self-structured teams. However, results indicated that dyadic teams were not satisfied with operating as a dyadic team in this study. The research also demonstrated that team satisfaction was the most significant predictor of virtual team effectiveness. The paper concludes with implications for technology managers and suggests guidance for improved effectiveness in design and implementation of virtual teams.Yayın Quantum fisher information of bipartitions of W states(Polish Acad Sciences Inst Physics, 2015-04-24) Özaydın, Fatih; Altıntaş, Azmi Ali; Yeşilyurt, Can; Buğu, Sinan; Erol, VolkanWe study the quantum Fisher information (QFI) of W states and W-like states under decoherence. In particular, we find that on the contrary to amplitude damping and depolarizing decoherence, a W-like state of 3 qubits obtained by discarding 1 qubit of a genuine W state of 4 qubits is more robust than a genuine W state of 3 qubits under amplitude amplifying and phase damping decoherence.Yayın Enhancing the W state fusion process with a toffoli gate and a CNOT gate via one-way quantum computation and linear optics(Polish Acad Sciences Inst Physics, 2015-04) Diker, Fırat; Özaydın, Fatih; Arık, MetinCreation of large-scale W state quantum networks is a key step for realization of various quantum information tasks. Regarding the photonics technology, a simple optical setup was proposed for the fusion of two W states. Recently it was shown that via a single Fredkin gate, this basic so-called "fusion setup" can be enhanced. However the main problem was that the probability of success of realization of Fredkin gate with linear optics is too low. In this work, we show that the same enhancement can be made possible via one Toffoli and one CNOT gate, instead of a Fredkin gate. Not only the probability of success of the combination of these two gates is much higher, than that of a single Fredkin gate via linear optics, but also there is another method for implementing our setup with current photonics technology, almost with a unity success probability: A hybrid circuit consisting of a Toffoli gate which can be implemented via one-way quantum computation on a weighted graph state of 8 qubits with a unity success probability and a linear optical CNOT gate which has a success probability close to unity. Therefore the preparation of polarization based encoded multi particle entangled W states of arbitrary sizes becomes considerably more efficient.Yayın Alpha head on collision with a fixed gold nucleus, taking into account the relativistic rest mass variation as implied by mass-energy equivalence(Polish Acad Sciences Inst Physics, 2014-02) Yarman, Nuh Tolga; Arık, Metin; Kholmetskii, Alexander; Altıntaş, Azmi Ali; Özaydın, FatihWe reformulate the Rutherford scattering of alpha particle for a head on collision, taking into account the rest mass variation of the particle, as implied by the energy conservation law. Our relativistic reformulation (which includes the energy conservation) constitutes a new example for the breakdown of the Lorentz invariance. Briefly speaking, even at rest or during the whole scattering process, the distance between the alpha particle and the gold nucleus is not invariant but depends on the frame of the observer attached to either object. According to our relativistic reformulation, we also provide a new set of Lorentz transformations.Yayın An optical setup for deterministic creation of four Partite W state(Polish Academy of Sciences, 2015-04) Yeşilyurt, Can; Buğu, Sinan; Diker, Fırat; Altıntaş, Azmi Ali; Özaydın, FatihIn order to create polarization based entanglement networks of W-4 state, we propose an optical setup, which uses only four horizontally polarized photons as resource which implies no entanglement requirement as a resource. This setup can generate target state deterministically, by operating several quantum optical gates, which can be realized with current photonics technology. The setup we propose is composed of one Not, two Hadamard, five Controlled Not (CNot) and one Toffoli gate.
