Yayın Measurement of perceived psychological safety: integration, review and evidences for the scale in the context of Turkiye(İstanbul Üniversitesi Yayınevi, 2022-06-22) Bülbül, Seçil; İşiaçık, Serin; Aytaç, SerpilPsychological safety can predict many positive individual and organizational outcomes at work, and previous research addressed how psychological safety contributes to positive work attitudes and behaviors. In Turkey, there is quite an amount of research showing the contributing role of psychological safety perception on employees' positive performance behaviors and organizational effectiveness and innovativeness. However, previous research in Turkey does not adequately show the reliability and validity of the psychological safety scale, which was developed by Edmondson (1999). Based on the suggested requirement this study aimed to investigate the psychological safety perceptions of individuals who work in various sectors in Turkey. The adapted version of the psychological safety scale was used to gain evidence for the reliability and validity of the instrument in Turkey. In total, 585 individuals working in various industries and from various occupational groups participated in the research. Both exploratory factor analysis and the confirmatory factor analysis showed that Turkish adapted version of the psychological safety scale was valid and reliable. Yayın A nonparametric approach for optimal reliability allocation in health services(Emerald Group Publishing Limited, 2016-02-01) Aksezer, Sezgin ÇağlarReliability evaluation of healthcare services has been a challenging task for both operations managers and system engineers working in the respective field. The purpose of this paper is to develop a data envelopment analysis-based reliability allocation model. Design/methodology/approach – A two-phase optimization scheme for the reliability evaluation and allocation of homogeneous system entities, namely, hospitals, operating in a healthcare network is proposed. First, reliability evaluation is performed nonparametrically through the frontier estimation technique data envelopment analysis by considering several failure modes and failure free discharged patients as the inputs and output of the service system. Subsequently, optimal reliability allocation that maximizes the overall network reliability subject to a budget constraint is carried out by utilizing weights of the inputs and output calculated on the Pareto optimal frontier, which is constructed from the most reliable hospitals operating in the network. Findings – The popular performance assessment methodology DEA is found to be an invaluable reliability assessment and allocation tool, where optimal weights of the associated envelopment model, under certain budget restrictions, are used to maximize overall network reliability. Originality/value – An empirical illustration of the proposed model is presented on a set of hospital network data from Turkey. Modeling implications can be carried out on similar service operations where identification of the critical performance indicator costs is possible.Yayın Towards enhancing happiness at work with the lenses of positive organizational behavior: The roles of psychological capital, social capital and organizational trust(Lumen Publishing House, 2020-06) Taştan, Seçil; Küçük, Burcu Aydın; İşiaçık, SerinIn this study, based on the approach of humanization of the postmodern organizations and depending on the conceptual background, it was suggested that psychological capital and social capital could be the significant antecedents of employee happiness at workplace. Further, it was proposed that organizational trust has a moderating role on the impact of psychological capital on happiness at workplace. Thereby, a cross-sectional research study has been performed in Turkey with the participation of 222 employees from a variety of sectors including sales, marketing, health, banking, finance and education. According to the findings, it was reported that the psychological capital construct (beta=,778; t=18,370, p<,05) and social capital (beta=,746; t=16,621, p<,05) had significant positive impacts on employees' happiness at workplace. These findings supported the proposed hypothesis 1 and hypothesis 2. In addition, it was demonstrated that organizational trust has significant positive impact on happiness at workplace (beta=,544, t=9,590, p<,05). However, the results indicated that organizational trust has no significant moderating role (p>0,05), thus hypothesis 3 was not confirmed. Further research direction and the need for research on organizational trust's moderating role are discussed. The conceptual and practical implications of the study are provided along with the concluding remarks and discussions.Yayın Effect of mechanically exfoliated graphite flakes on morphological, mechanical, and thermal properties of epoxy(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2024-11-11) Gül, Ayşenur; Kamali, Ali RezaCarbon-reinforced polymer composites form an important category of advanced materials, and there is an increasing demand to enhance their performance using more convenient and scalable processes at low costs. In the present study, graphitic flakes were prepared by the mechanical exfoliation of synthetic graphite electrodes and utilized as an abundant and potentially low-cost filler to fabricate epoxy-based composites with different additive ratios of 1–10 wt.%. The morphological, structural, thermal, and mechanical properties of these composites were investigated. It was found that the thermal conductivity of the composites increases by adding graphite, and this increase mainly depends on the ratio of the graphite additive. The addition of graphite was found to have a diverse effect on the mechanical properties of the composites: the tensile strength of the composites decreases with the addition of graphite, whilst their compressive strength and elastic modulus are enhanced. The results demonstrate that incorporating 5 wt% of commercially available graphite into epoxy not only raises the thermal conductivity of the material from 0.223 to 0.485 W/m·K, but also enhances its compressive strength from 66 MPa to 72 MPa. The diverse influence of graphite provides opportunities to prepare epoxy composites with desirable properties for different applications.
