    NFC loyal: A Beneficial model to promote loyalty on smart cards of mobile devices

    Near Field Communication (NFC) as a new emerging technology currently tries to find a suitable ecosystem. Development of new standards such as secure element, secure channel, as well as Java Card enables creating new ecosystems using a concurrent multi application platform based on Global Platform. We proposed NFC Loyal, which maintains data interaction and data sharing among payment and loyalty applications through our proposed structure, called as Secure Common Domain Management System (SCDM). SCDM as a centralized database management system on the smart card stores valuable iriformation provided by payment applications and shares them with loyalty applications. The direct outcome of using NFC Loyal is the increase in repeat purchases of customers; as well as a business plan among the payment firms, loyalty firms, and the smart card owner. We fully describe the technical including security architectures and background for the SCDM, and explain the details of the proposed model.

    A digital platform for heritage data sharing: the ecclesiastical repository for ecclesiastical treasures in the NARRATE project

    Cultural Heritage (CH) is a shared legacy, and its preservation reflects a collective responsibility to safeguard our common history. The ERASMUS+ project NARRATE - Needs for Digital Recording and Documentation of Ecclesiastical Cultural Treasures in Monasteries and Temples, funded by the European Union, aimed to preserve both tangible and intangible ecclesiastical heritage through the creation of a digital repository. NARRATE focused on the structured documentation of ecclesiastical CH and the management of a digital archive tailored to the needs of the clergy, many of whom are unfamiliar with digital tools. Through user-centered surveys, the project integrated the clergy's perspectives to ensure the tools developed were accessible and relevant. The repository comprises two components: i) the Interactive Dashboard, allowing users to manage ecclesiastical artifacts and access educational materials, and ii) the NARRATE Server, which comprises a Web application that enables end-users and third-party services to interact with it and exchange data, ensuring interoperability through CIDOC-based semantic metadata. Alongside, NARRATE offers multilingual educational resources, including videos and guides, designed for both clergy and the wider public. This fosters engagement in cataloguing, metadata annotation, and digital storytelling. NARRATE provides an inclusive platform for clergy, scholars, and the public to explore, preserve, and appreciate under-documented ecclesiastical treasures, contributing in this way to a cross-cultural understanding and sustainable heritage preservation.

    Designing a scalable agricultural information system for pest detection and decision support in hazelnut cultivation

    This study presents a microservices-based, multi-tiered information system to detect, monitör and manage pest species that cause yield losses in hazelnut production. The system integrates a deep learning model for classifying pest images submitted by field users, the generation of pest density maps and location-based early warning mechanisms for growers. Delivered through mobile, web and desktop platforms, the system enables data sharing among farmers, researchers and decision-makers, supporting agricultural decisions. Experimental findings show that the DNN+ResNet50 architecture achieved the highest accuracy (91.88%) among all tested CNN models. Performance evaluations indicated that the Authentication and Heatmap services sustained high stability under loads of up to 1000 requests, while the Bug Classification Service was reliable up to 750 requests before reaching a critical resource threshold. The usability test resulted in an overall score of 38 out of 50, with sub-scores of Appropriateness Recognizability (0.73, Acceptable), Learnability (0.71, Acceptable), Operability (0.65, Questionable), User Error Protection (0.86, Good), User Interface Aesthetics (0.83, Good) and Accessibility (0.74, Acceptable). With its robust technical architecture and practical implementation, the proposed system can generate economic, social and commercial outcomes. This study provides a software engineering-oriented approach to the digitalization of agricultural production and the sustainable management of pests.
