Yayın Head-on collision of the solitary waves in fluid-filled elastic tubes(Işık University Press, 2018-04-12) Özden, Ali Erinç; Demiray, HilmiIn the present work, by employing the field equations given in [15] and the extended PLK method derived in [9], we have studied the head-on collision of solitary waves in arteries. Introducing a set of stretched coordinates which include some unknown functions characterizing the higher order dispersive effects and the trajectory functions to be determined from the removal of possible secularities that might occur in the solution. Expanding these unknown functions and the field variables into power series of the smallness parameter epsilon and introducing the resulting expansions into the field equations we obtained the sets of partial differential equations. By solving these differential equations and imposing the requirements for the removal of possible secularities we obtained the speed correction terms and the trajectory functions. The results of our calculation show that both the evolution equations and the phase shifts resulting from the head-on collision of solitary waves are quite different from those of Xue [15], who employed the incorrect formulation of Su and Mirie [4]. As opposed to the result of previous works on the same subject, in the present work the phase shifts depend on the amplitudes of both colliding waves.Yayın An analysis of stability of a class of neutral-type neural networks with discrete time delays(Hindawi Publishing Corporation, 2013) Orman, Zeynep; Arik, SabriThe problem of existence, uniqueness, and global asymptotic stability is considered for the class of neutral-type neural network model with discrete time delays. By employing a suitable Lyapunov functional and using the homeomorphism mapping theorem, we derive some new delay-independent sufficient conditions for the existence, uniqueness, and global asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point for this class of neutral-type systems. The obtained conditions basically establish some norm and matrix inequalities involving the network parameters of the neural system. The main advantage of the proposed results is that they can be expressed in terms of network parameters only. Some comparative examples are also given to compare our results with the previous corresponding results and demonstrate the effectiveness of the results presented.Yayın Behavior of quantum fisher information of bell pairs under decoherence channels(Polish Acad Sciences Inst Physics, 2014-02) Özaydın, Fatih; Altıntaş, Azmi Ali; Buğu, Sinan; Yeşilyurt, CanQuantum Fisher information has recently been an essential tool for analyzing the phase sensitivity of the quantum states in various quantum tasks, requiring high precision, such as quantum clock synchronization, positioning and many applications which include quantum interferometers. Due to the interactions with the environment, all quantum systems are subject to various decoherence effects. Therefore the research on quantum Fisher information under decoherence has been recently attracting more attention. In this work, analyzing the quantum Fisher information, we study the phase sensitivity of bipartite quantum correlations, in particular four Bell pairs amplitude damping channels. For a specific Bell state we arrive at similar results of Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states (as expected). For the other three Bell states, we present our results which point the interesting behavior of quantum Fisher information with respect to the decoherence rate. We also find the regions where the quantum Fisher information exhibits discontinuities.Yayın On progressive wave solution for non-planar KDV equation in a plasma with q-nonextensive electrons and two oppositely charged ions(Işık University Press, 2020) Demiray, Hilmi; El-Zahar, Essam Roshdy; Shan, Shaukat AliIn this paper, the ion-acoustic wave is investigated in a plasma with q-nonextensive electrons and two oppositely charged ions with varying masses. These parameters are found to modify the linear dispersion relation and nonlinear solitary structures. The reductive perturbation method is employed to derive modified Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation. To solve the obtained governing evolution equation, the exact solution in the planar geometry is obtained and used to obtain an analytical approximate progressive wave solution for the nonplanar evolution equation. The analytical approximate solution so obtained is compared with the numerical solution of the same nonplanar evolution equation and the results are presented in 2D and 3D figures. The results revealed that both solutions are in good agreement. A parametric study is carried out to investigate the effect of different physical parameters on the nonlinear evolution solution behavior. The obtained solution allows us to study the impact of various plasma parameters on the behavior of the nonplanar ion-acoustic solitons. The suitable application of the present investigations can be found in laboratory plasmas, where oppositely charged ions and nonthermal electrons dwell.Yayın A broadband microwave amplifier design by means of immittance based data modelling tool(IEEE, 2002) Kılınç, Ali; Pınarbaşı, Hacı; Şengül, Metin; Yarman, Bekir Sıddık BinboğaIn this paper a practical broadband microwave amplifier design algorithm is introduced utilizing the immittance data-modelling tool. In the course of design, first, the optimum input and output terminations for the active device are produced employing the real frequency technique. Then, these terminations are modelled utilizing the new immittance-modelling tool to synthesize the front-end and back-end matching networks. An example is included to exhibit the implementation of the proposed design algorithm to construct a single stage BJT amplifier over a wide frequency band. It is expected that the proposed design algorithm will find applications to realize wideband microwave amplifiers put on MMIC for mobile communication.Yayın Anti-imperialism and Kemalism in Turkey's long sixties: Mahir Çayan's theory of revolution in context(Brill Academic Publishers, 2021-12) Ülker, ErolThis article aims to reassess the evolution of Mahir Çayan's theory of uninterrupted revolution in the context of the radical ideological currents of the long sixties in Turkey. It concentrates on Çayan's relations with the National Democratic Revolution (Milli Demokratik Devrim, MDD) movement that enjoyed a considerable degree of political and ideological authority over the youth movements starting in the second half of the 1960s. The article discusses how Çayan interpreted and attempted to revise the theory of national democratic revolution by reference to the changing characteristics of imperialism and colonial domination. Consideration is given to Çayan's critical approach towards the role of Kemalists in the anti-imperialist bloc to be formed.Yayın Analysis of Nonlinear Dynamics of Neural Networks(Hindawi Publishing Corporation, 2013) Arik, Sabri; Park, Juhyun; Huang, Tingwen; Oliveira, José J[No abstract available]Yayın Afghanistan's security: Political process, state-building and narcotics(Wiley-Blackwell, 2008-06) Aras, Bülent; Toktaş, ŞuleEstablishing political authority and constructing a state instrument would increase trust, which would contribute to stability.1 The lack of political institutions necessary for stability encourages the interference of individuals and groups with "special" interests, at both the state and societal levels.2 Stability is not only a prerequisite for the development of the political process and security within the country; it is also a risk to security, as it would require the involvement of groups and factors in the political process that might hinder security itself. [...] in a setting where fierce security measures are needed, running security operations without supplying adequate security personnel and munitions is an absolute risk.48 CONCLUSION The long-term objective for Afghanistan is to strengthen the state structurally and to set mechanisms in place that would prevent it from working only for narrow or factional interests.Yayın Design science perspective on NFC research: Review and research agenda(Slovensko Drustvo Informatika, 2013) Aydın, Mehmet Nafiz; Özdenizci Köse, BüşraNear Field Communication (NFC), as one of the emerging and promising technological developments, provides means to short range contactless communication for mobile phones and other devices alike. NFC has become an attractive design science research area for many academicians due to its exploding growth and its promising applications and related services. A better understanding of the current status of NFC research is necessary to maintain the advancement of knowledge in NFC research and to identify the gap between theory and practice. In this paper, we present a literature review on NFC. To facilitate the analysis of the literature, we propose a research framework and organize the NFC literature into four major categories (theory and development, applications and services, infrastructure, ecosystem). We contend that due to the nature of NFC (industry high stakes, multidisciplinary research, artifacts development), the design science research paradigm serves an appropriate ground to investigate an extent to which relevance and rigor is achieved. By employing the proposed research framework and design science perspective, we set up a research agenda (research directions and promising research questions) which may help practitioners and academics to achieve a substantial progress in NFC.Yayın Regularizing soft decision trees(Springer, 2013) Yıldız, Olcay Taner; Alpaydın, Ahmet İbrahim EthemRecently, we have proposed a new decision tree family called soft decision trees where a node chooses both its left and right children with different probabilities as given by a gating function, different from a hard decision node which chooses one of the two. In this paper, we extend the original algorithm by introducing local dimension reduction via L-1 and L-2 regularization for feature selection and smoother fitting. We compare our novel approach with the standard decision tree algorithms over 27 classification data sets. We see that both regularized versions have similar generalization ability with less complexity in terms of number of nodes, where L-2 seems to work slightly better than L-1.
