In this thesis, we aim to propose the use of Blockchain technology thoroughly to solve the challenges of today’s food supply chain management. Blockchain technology, which will be used primarily to produce solutions for a good understanding of the proposed model, has been explained. After explaining the Bitcoin technology that led to the emergence of blockchain technology, information was given about Cryptography, which is used to provide high security. The method that ensures that the data recorded with Blockchain technology, an innovative data recording method, is irrevocable. A 51 % attack (A successful 51 % attack means that one group or individual controls the majority of the processing power), a vulnerability in blockchain technology, and efforts to take precautions have been addressed. Information about Ethereum technology and decentralized, self-running organizations (DAOs) and smart contracts are provided, which enables possibilities beyond just making value transfer records possible using blockchain technology. After providing insights into the 50 sectors that are likely to be transformed by the help of Blockchain which reveals innovative ways of working; the challenges experienced by focusing on one of these sectors supply chain management sector, and the solutions that can be brought to these challenges with Blockchain are explained. Research includes a proposed utilization of Blockchain in the Food Supply Chain and observes all aspects of the industry from logistics, supply chain, food supply chain and Blockchain, furthermore, these terms are thoroughly explained to facilitate the convention of this innovative research purpose. The transaction from the traditional set of processes within enterprises to the innovative technology which is believed to change the way we do business, is expressed. A SWOT analysis is conducted to provide a better understanding on the current standards of the food supply chain in Turkey and the potential it possesses. The findings suggest that Turkey's food supply chain management has various issues in the fields of transportation intermediaries, inefficient cold chain systems, to name a few. Companies such as Amazon and Migros have begun integrating blockchain technology in their food supply chains as this method enhances and makes the supply chain more transparent, agile, and manageable.

The impact of supply chain management practices on the overall performance of the fan industry
(Işık Üniversitesi, 2022-06-17) Hafeez, Muhammad Salman; Akbay, Ümmühan; Işık Üniversitesi, Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, Yöneticiler için İşletme Yönetimi Yüksek Lisans Programı
According to UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and TRTA (Trade-Related Technical Assistance Program), Pakistan's contribution to global fan trade is barely 1.3 %. The industry has experienced rapid expansion in recent years, but it is plagued by low productivity, outdated equipment, and a lack of knowledge. Because these institutions are opposed to change, Pakistan's fan business cannot compete with its overseas counterparts. Supply chain management methods have been shown in studies to increase a firm's overall performance by boosting competitive advantage and more efficient production. Supply chain management at the top level could improve results and improve organizational performance. The objective of this thesis is to explore the effects of supply chain management strategies on the performance of the organization of fan manufacturing SMEs in Pakistan. A questionnaire was given to 120 different fan manufacturing companies for data collection purposes, with an 83.33 percent response rate. The findings suggest that strategic supplier partnerships and supply chain management methods improve organizational performance. These findings show that many SMEs in the fan manufacturing industry are aware of supply-chain strategies to manage and employ them to improve their companies' performance. It is the first research in Pakistan about the influence of supply chain management practices on the organizational performance of fan manufacturing SMEs, to the best of my knowledge. As a result, this research is contributing to the field of supply chain management. Furthermore, it serves as a foundation for Pakistan's industrial sector, particularly the fan industry, in terms of supply chain management.

Procurement and activity planning for a production line provider
(Işık Üniversitesi, 2020-01-16) Ateş, Gülşah; Atan, Sabri Tankut; Işık Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Endüstri Mühendisliği - Yöneylem Araştırması Yüksek Lisans Programı
Consider a production line provider with the following problem. Turnkey production lines should be delivered to global clients by contractual due-dates. Machines in the production lines can be bought from suppliers or built in-house. Since the production lines for di?erent clients are of the same type -albeit of different capacity- they consist of similar or same machines. Thus, their purchase and/or production need to be coordinated to reduce costs and production time. Furthermore, capital and workforce resources are constrained. Hence, not all activities can be done in parallel and should be spread across the planning horizon. Delivery delays have monetary ?nes proportional to the time past the due-dates. The company is concerned about making the due-dates by observing all resource constraints and carefully coordinating the activities of the concurrent projects. We give mixed-integer linear programming formulations for the investigated problems and report the results of the numerical experiments conducted using these formulations.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on online grocery supply chain management: a case study in Istanbul
(Gazi Üniversitesi, 2024-03) Javadi, Sonya; Keten, Olcay; Özer, Ali İhsan; Alkan, Remziye Zeynep
The COVID-19 pandemic has already crippled normal life all over the world. Its negative impact not only changed the human health system tragically but also disrupted the global economic system. One negative result was ended up in the global food supply chain. As the lockdown times have suspended the manufacturing and logistic activities, therefore, the customers have experienced unimaginable chaos in the shopping markets. Moreover, the purchasing habit of the consumers has remarkably changed compared to pre-pandemic. To meet this new demand pattern, many grocery retailers have tried to adapt to the new normal. While before COVID-19 offline grocery purchasing was popular, after the pandemic, online service got tremendous attention in market. In this study, online grocery supply chain management during the COVID-19 in Istanbul is considered. The aim is to find out how online grocery companies will serve more efficiently during the pandemics and which factors have more effect on the customer’s satisfaction. To do so, first, three popular grocery retailers in Istanbul were selected. Then, a related survey was designed to understand the consumer experience as doing online grocery shopping in COVID-19. Unsurprisingly, a result shows that 60% of the respondents did online shopping every 3-4 days in one week, and the delivery time is the most important factor for the customers. Then, the SWOT analyses were performed accordingly, and the related strategies were summarized. Finally, several managerial implications were given to may improve the company’s online services in COVID-19 and post COVID-19 in Turkey.

Performance outcomes of supply chain management practices: evidence from Pakistan's fan manufacturing SMEs
(University of Novi Sad, 2025-12-01) Akbay, Ümmühan; Hafeez, Muhammad Salman
This study examines the impact of supply chain management practices on the organization’s marketing and financial performance. We present the results of a survey conducted with 100 Pakistani fan manufacturing firms. Statistical analysis reveals that the industry struggles with information sharing and joint operations within the supply chain. PLS-SEM analysis of the survey data shows that supply chain performance is significantly correlated with organizational performance. Both customer and supplier relationship management have positive and significant effects on the performance of the supply chain and the organization. However, the impact of customer relationship management is stronger as its path coefficient is greater. Additionally, although internal supply chain management also impacts both supply chain and organization performance positively, the impact is slightly short of being statistically significant. This study contributes to the supply chain management literature by providing empirical evidence from an understudied manufacturing sector from a developing country.

Divergent metrics: exploring supply chain performance in humanitarian organizations versus public and private sectors
(Asos Yayınları, 2024-10-12) Alaff, Monther; Karayaz, Gamze; Aysuna Türkyılmaz, Ceyda
Humanitarian organizations operate under conditions that require rapid response and flexibility, often in crisis situations where traditional supply chain metrics may not be applicable. Their focus on speed, adaptability, and stakeholder engagement contrasts sharply with the public and private sectors, which typically prioritize efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and long-term strategic planning. This paper investigates the differences in supply chain performance measurement between humanitarian organizations and the public and private sectors, highlighting the unique challenges and objectives that define each domain. Through a thorough literature review, we examine existing frameworks and metrics used in supply chain performance evaluation across these sectors. To achieve this goal, a systematic literature review was conducted, analyzing 57 articles published between 2000 and 2024 across four databases: IEEE Xplore, Web of Science, Scopus, and JSTOR. Our analysis reveals that while public and private sectors benefit from established performance metrics such as ROI and inventory turnover, humanitarian organizations often rely on qualitative measures and emergent indicators that capture the complexities of disaster response. As a result, this research introduces a model for supply chain performance specifically tailored for humanitarian organizations. The model includes the most relevant metrics and attributes to assist both researchers and practitioners in their future work.
