The aim is to search and find the most intense signal source among other signal sources in the operation region of the robot. In other words, the control problem is to find the global extremum point when there are local extremas. The locations of the signal sources are unknown and it is assumed that the signal magnitudes are maximum at the sources and their magnitudes are decreasing away from the sources. The distribution characteristics of the signals are unknown, i.e. the gradients of the signal distribution functions are unknown. The control algorithm also doesn't need any position measurement of the robot itself. Only the signal magnitude should be measured via a sensor mounted on the robot. The simulation study shows the performance of the controller.Yayın Deleuze ve Spinoza kavramları üzerinden Kardelen Fincancı, Nezaket Ekici ve Tunç Ali Çam’ın çalışmalarının değerlendirilmesi(Istanbul Kultur Univ, 2017-07) Demir, Vesime ItırBu araştırmada, Benedictus de Spinoza ve Gilles Deleuze’ün sunduğu kavramlar üzerinden performans sanatı örnekleri incelenecektir. The primary objective of the course is to enable students to combine theory and practice. Problems in industry however entail more than finding technical solutions. Indeed professional life requires other skills such as an ability to propose ideas, develop practical solutions, participate in teamwork, meet deadlines, establish communication between technical support and suppliers, oversee financial issues, and finally reporting and presentation skills. This study describes how in three consecutive courses, we preserve academic rigor of the UOL course while incorporating components such as experimental design, project development and teamwork, which aim to meet the needs of professional careers. We follow up the course outcomes with a survey targeting the graduates of the program. The results show that graduates employed in industry frequently rely on these skills during job interviews, research and product development, whereas those who pursue advanced degrees in academia use these skills predominantly for their research, highlighting the need for adaptive approach for different graduate trajectories in designing the course. For both groups of graduates, the skills introduced during the UOL courses are reported to be valuable in their daily life, emphasizing life-long learning.Yayın 0 Ve 1’Le Şekillenen Dünya(Istanbul Univ, Research Inst Turkology, Dept Art History, 2017) Avcı Tuğal, SibelSanat yapıtları yüzyıllar boyu çağının teknolojik yenilikleri ile gelişmiş ve çeşitlenmiştir. The present work aims to characterize this extremely precious tool stone by using both thermoluminescence (TL) and optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) techniques and investigate its potential use for luminescence dating purposes. Basic TL and OSL properties, such as TL and OSL thermal and optical stability, repeatability, TL and LM-OSL glow curve shape and mainly the linearity of the TL and OSL signals as a function of beta dose were investigated. Artificially irradiated samples indicate all promising luminescence features, such as the 110 degrees C TL peak and dose response sub-linearity for intermediate doses, quick and effective bleaching all over the entire TL glow curve, along with quite linear CW-OSL dose response for doses larger than 5 Gy. The lack of predose sensitisation indicates the suitability of the material for single aliquot measurements. Furthermore, several features provide indications that the signal does not relate to quartz, but in fact to other silicates. Unfortunately, both lack of bleaching ability for NIL signal, along with a peculiar shape of NOSL, provide major difficulties in dating applications.Yayın Head-on collision of the solitary waves in fluid-filled elastic tubes(Işık University Press, 2018-04-12) Özden, Ali Erinç; Demiray, HilmiIn the present work, by employing the field equations given in [15] and the extended PLK method derived in [9], we have studied the head-on collision of solitary waves in arteries. Introducing a set of stretched coordinates which include some unknown functions characterizing the higher order dispersive effects and the trajectory functions to be determined from the removal of possible secularities that might occur in the solution. Expanding these unknown functions and the field variables into power series of the smallness parameter epsilon and introducing the resulting expansions into the field equations we obtained the sets of partial differential equations. By solving these differential equations and imposing the requirements for the removal of possible secularities we obtained the speed correction terms and the trajectory functions. The results of our calculation show that both the evolution equations and the phase shifts resulting from the head-on collision of solitary waves are quite different from those of Xue [15], who employed the incorrect formulation of Su and Mirie [4]. As opposed to the result of previous works on the same subject, in the present work the phase shifts depend on the amplitudes of both colliding waves.Yayın From past to present: spam detection and identifying opinion leaders in social networks(Yildiz Teknik Univ., 2022-06-22) Altınel Girgin, Ayşe Berna; Gümüşçekiçci, GizemOn microblogging sites, which are gaining more and more users every day, a wide range of ideas are quickly emerging, spreading, and creating interactive environments. In some cases, in Turkey as well as in the rest of the world, it was noticed that events were published on microblogging sites before appearing in visual, audio and printed news sources. Thanks to the rapid flow of information in social networks, it can reach millions of people in seconds. In this context, social media can be seen as one of the most important sources of information affecting public opinion. Since the information in social networks became accessible, research started to be conducted using the information on the social networks. While the studies about spam detection and identification of opinion leaders gained popularity, surveys about these topics began to be published. This study also shows the importance of spam detection and identification of opinion leaders in social networks. It is seen that the data collected from social platforms, especially in recent years, has sourced many state-of-art applications. There are independent surveys that focus on filtering the spam content and detecting influencers on social networks. This survey analyzes both spam detection studies and opinion leader identification and categorizes these studies by their methodologies. As far as we know there is no survey that contains approaches for both spam detection and opinion leader identification in social networks. This survey contains an overview of the past and recent advances in both spam detection and opinion leader identification studies in social networks. Furthermore, readers of this survey have the opportunity of understanding general aspects of different studies about spam detection and opinion leader identification while observing key points and comparisons of these studies.Yayın Laboratory flume experiment with a coded structured light system(International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, 2012) Akça, Mehmet Devrim; Seybold, HansjorgThe topography of inland deltas is influenced chiefly by the water-sediment balance in distributary channels and local evaporation and seepage rates. In a previous study, a reduced complexity model has been applied to simulate the process of inland delta formation. Results have been compared with the Okavango Delta, Botswana and with a laboratory experiment. Both in the macro scale and the micro scale cases, high quality digital elevation models (DEM) are essential. This work elaborates the laboratory experiment where an artificial inland delta is generated on laboratory scale and its topography is measured using a Breuckmann 3D scanner. The space-time evolution of the inland delta is monitored in the consecutive DEM layers. Regarding the 1.0m x 1.0m x 0.3m size of the working area, better than 100 micron precision is achieved which gives a relative precision of 1/10 000. The entire 3D modelling workflow is presented in terms of scanning, co-registration, surface generation, editing, and visualization steps. The co-registered high resolution topographic data allows us to analyse the stratigraphy patterns of the experiment and gain quantitative insight into the spatio-temporal evolution of the delta formation process.Yayın God, man, and nature: life for reason and the reason behind the universe - a panentheistic approach to life of pi(De Gruyter, 2021-11-08) Edman, Timuçin Buğra; Gözen, HacerThis article intends to lay out a comparative study of Karma philosophy and literature scrutinizing Yann Martel's novel Life of Pi through a panentheistic approach. Because Karma is one of the predominant philosophies in the novel and permeates the general atmosphere, this article intends to scrutinize Yann Martel's novel Life of Pi through a panentheistic approach. Although karma is a very complex issue, since anyone committing evil acts can claim to be a mere agent of karma delivering punishment to others for sins they committed in their past lives, it is true that according to karma, our actions have consequences which affect the entirety of our lives, and this can also be seen as free will. Yet while this approach tends to focus on the action and reaction mechanisms of life, the flow of life in the universe should still be carefully contemplated, since if we believe the first story, Pi's survival not only depends on his choices, but also on the opportunities that the universe offers him. In that sense, if we are to accept God as the soul of the universe, then the universal spirit must be omnipresent and omnipotent while also capable of transforming into anything in terms of s panentheistic approach. Thus God, being greater than the universe, is the ultimate force that balances everything, and is also the biggest karma controller. For this reason, this article analyzes Life of Pi from both inductive and deductive slants to demonstrate that all roads lead to God, the omniscient.
