Yayın Topography of inland deltas: Observations, modeling, and experiments(Amer Geophysical Union, 2010-04-28) Seybold, Hansjörg J.; Molnar, Peter; Akça, Mehmet Devrim; Doumi, M.; Tavares, M. Cavalcanti; Shinbrot, Troy; Andrade, Jose Soares; Kinzelbach, Wolfgang; Herrmann, Hans JürgenThe topography of inland deltas is influenced by the water-sediment balance in distributary channels and local evaporation and seepage rates. In this letter a reduced complexity model is applied to simulate inland delta formation, and results are compared with the Okavango Delta, Botswana and with a laboratory experiment. We show that water loss in inland deltas produces fundamentally different dynamics of water and sediment transport than coastal deltas, especially deposition associated with expansion-contraction dynamics at the channel head. These dynamics lead to a systematic decrease in the mean topographic slope of the inland delta with distance from the apex following a power law with exponent alpha = -0.69 +/- 0.02 where the data for both simulation and experiment can be collapsed onto a single curve. In coastal deltas, on the contrary, the slope increases toward the end of the deposition zone.Yayın Harmonic function for which the second dilatation is ?-spiral(Springer International Publishing AG, 2012) Aydoğan, Seher Melike; Duman, Emel Yavuz; Polatoğlu, Yaşar; Kahramaner, YaseminLet f = h + (g) over bar be a harmonic function in the unit disc . We will give some properties of f under the condition the second dilatation is alpha-spiral.Yayın An analysis of stability of a class of neutral-type neural networks with discrete time delays(Hindawi Publishing Corporation, 2013) Orman, Zeynep; Arik, SabriThe problem of existence, uniqueness, and global asymptotic stability is considered for the class of neutral-type neural network model with discrete time delays. By employing a suitable Lyapunov functional and using the homeomorphism mapping theorem, we derive some new delay-independent sufficient conditions for the existence, uniqueness, and global asymptotic stability of the equilibrium point for this class of neutral-type systems. The obtained conditions basically establish some norm and matrix inequalities involving the network parameters of the neural system. The main advantage of the proposed results is that they can be expressed in terms of network parameters only. Some comparative examples are also given to compare our results with the previous corresponding results and demonstrate the effectiveness of the results presented.Yayın Analysis of Nonlinear Dynamics of Neural Networks(Hindawi Publishing Corporation, 2013) Arik, Sabri; Park, Juhyun; Huang, Tingwen; Oliveira, José J[No abstract available]Yayın Some properties concerning close-to-convexity of certain analytic functions(Springer International Publishing AG, 2012) Nunokawa, Mamoru; Aydoğan, Seher Melike; Kuroki, Kazuo; Yıldız, İsmet; Owa, ShigeyoshiLet f(z) be an analytic function in the open unit disk D normalized with f(0) = 0 and f'(0) = 1. With the help of subordinations, for convex functions f(z) in D, the order of close-to-convexity for f(z) is discussed with some example.Yayın Evolutionary route to diploidy and sex(National Academy of Sciences, 2001-11-20) Tüzel, Erkan; Sevim, Volkan; Erzan, AyşeBy using a bit-string model of evolution, we find a successful route to diploidy and sex in simple organisms. Allowing the sexually reproducing diploid individuals to also perform mitosis, as they do in a haploid-diploid cycle, leads to the complete takeover of the population by sexual diploids. This mechanism is so robust that even the accidental conversion and pairing of only two diploids give rise to a sexual population.Yayın Afforestation of arid and semiarid ecosystems in Turkey(Tubitak Scientific & Technical Research Council Turkey, 2017-05-28) Çalışkan, Servet; Boydak, MelihSustainable management of arid and semiarid forests requires careful planning and implementation. Afforestation by planting and seeding is a fundamental tool for the establishment of new forests on barren landscapes and restoration of degraded forests in arid and semiarid ecosystems. In afforestation efforts, the consideration of site preparation, selection of species, seed source, and planting methods pose a number of ecological and economic challenges. Possessing one of the world's richest floras, Turkey suffered from heavy degradation during the last millennia. Some studies suggested that forests and steppes once covered 60%-70% and 10%-15% of the Anatolian landscape, respectively. Growing population, overgrazing, clearance for agriculture, fires, excessive timber harvesting, and misuse of lands led to a 26% reduction in the forest area. The Turkish Forest Service completed 2.3 million ha of afforestation and 1.2 ha of erosion control works, mostly in semiarid landscapes. This article presents an assessment of afforestation activities in the semiarid and arid regions of Turkey and is a review of the efforts exerted during the period 1945 to 2014.Yayın Fractional Hankel and Bessel wavelet transforms of almost periodic signals(Springer International Publishing, 2015-12-09) Ünalmış Uzun, BanuThe main objective of this paper is to study the Hankel, fractional Hankel, and Bessel wavelet transforms using the Parseval relation. We construct a generalized frame and write new relations and inequalities using almost periodic functions, strong limit power signals, and these transform methods.Yayın Comment on "Encryption and decryption of images with chaotic map lattices" [Chaos 16, 033118 (2006)](American Institute of Physics Inc., 2008-09) Solak, Ercan; Çokal, CahitIn this paper, we comment on the chaotic encryption algorithm proposed by A. N. Pisarchik et al. [Chaos 16, 033118 (2006)]. We demonstrate that the algorithm is not invertible. We suggest simple modifications that can remedy some of the problems we identified.Yayın On approximate solutions for two higher-order Caputo-Fabrizio fractional integro-differential equations(Springer International Publishing AG, 2017-08-03) Aydoğan, Seher Melike; Baleanu, Dumitru; Mousalou, Asef; Rezapour, ShahramWe investigate the existence of solutions for two high-order fractional differential equations including the Caputo-Fabrizio derivative. In this way, we introduce some new tools for obtaining solutions for the high-order equations. Also, we discuss two illustrative examples to confirm the reported results. In this way one gets the possibility of utilizing some continuous or discontinuous mappings as coefficients in the fractional differential equations of higher order.
