Yayın Using the ultrasonic stress wave technique to evaluate structural timber members of an old masonry building(Kastamonu Univ, Orman Fak, 2018) Koca, Gülru; Dündar, Türker; As, NusretAim of study: The main objective of this study is to evaluate the current state of the structural timber members of an old masonry building by using destructive and non-destructive test methods and to determine the efficiency of non-destructive test methods by obtaining correlations between destructive and non-destructive test parameters. Area of study: Specimens were extracted from different parts of an old semi-detached masonry building in Istanbul, Turkey. The building was built at the beginning of the 20th century in Kadikoy, a residential district in the Asia side of Istanbul. Material and Methods: Ultrasonic stress wave test was carried out on specimens prepared from the structural members. Following the ultrasonic based non-destructive tests, the bending strength and modulus of elasticity in the bending tests were determined for the specimens. Main results: According to the results of the experiments, it was observed that the regression correlations were high for the softwoods (fir and spruce), but relatively lower correlations were obtained for the chestnut specimens. Highlights: Because of the good R-2 values obtained between the MOED and mechanical properties of the softwoods, the non-destructive stress wave technique can be recommended for the evaluation of softwoods in structures. Although chestnut showed very good mechanical properties, a satisfactory evaluation of the chestnut members could not be obtained because of the small number of specimens. Further investigation is needed with large sample groups.Yayın Did you read the news before playing the advergame? The effects of priming, persuasion knowledge and placement strength on brand attitude and recall in advergames(Inderscience Publishers, 2020-06-01) Sağkaya Güngör, AyşegülWith the advergames, marketers reach their goal of conveying their message to their target audience in an entertaining way. The study aims to find out, first, how the priming effects responses of the advergame players toward the brand. Additionally, persuasion knowledge and placement strength were investigated, along with priming. A 2 × 2 × 2 between-subjects laboratory experiment was conducted with 204 participants. Results show that priming has significant effects on brand attitude and recall. The effects were partially persistent after the introduction of persuasion knowledge. When the placement strength was introduced, it was observed significant differences on brand attitude and recall.Yayın Measurement of perceived psychological safety: integration, review and evidences for the scale in the context of Turkiye(İstanbul Üniversitesi Yayınevi, 2022-06-22) Bülbül, Seçil; İşiaçık, Serin; Aytaç, SerpilPsychological safety can predict many positive individual and organizational outcomes at work, and previous research addressed how psychological safety contributes to positive work attitudes and behaviors. In Turkey, there is quite an amount of research showing the contributing role of psychological safety perception on employees' positive performance behaviors and organizational effectiveness and innovativeness. However, previous research in Turkey does not adequately show the reliability and validity of the psychological safety scale, which was developed by Edmondson (1999). Based on the suggested requirement this study aimed to investigate the psychological safety perceptions of individuals who work in various sectors in Turkey. The adapted version of the psychological safety scale was used to gain evidence for the reliability and validity of the instrument in Turkey. In total, 585 individuals working in various industries and from various occupational groups participated in the research. Both exploratory factor analysis and the confirmatory factor analysis showed that Turkish adapted version of the psychological safety scale was valid and reliable.Yayın Contributions of mindful parenting and parent–child relationships to children’s executive function: a structural equation model(Springer, 2026-04-19) Acar, İbrahim Hakkı; Hamamcı, Beyza; Bostancı, SelenMindful parenting supports within-family functioning, including parent–child relationships, which may promote positive child outcomes. In the present study, we examined the contributions of mindful parenting and parent–child relationships (positive and negative aspects) to children’s executive function. The study sample consisted of 354 children (192 girls) between 31 and 101 months (M = 66.65, SD = 15.88) and their parents from relatively low socioeconomic backgrounds. Parents reported mindful parenting, parent–child relationships, and children’s executive function. Findings from the structural equation model indicated that higher levels of mindful parenting and positive parent–child relationships were associated with higher levels of children’s executive function. In contrast, a negative parent–child relationship was related to lower levels of executive function. Additionally, mindful parenting was indirectly related to children’s executive function through the parent–child relationship. Findings from the current study underlined the importance of mindful parenting for both parent–child relationships and children’s executive function. In detail, parents who are better at being present with their children and utilizing mindful discipline may exhibit more warmth and supportive relationships with their children. Consequently, positive relationships could lead children to display higher cognitive abilities, including executive function.
