Analyzing the impact of brand sustainability practices on brand loyalty
(Işık Üniversitesi, 2024-02-12) Audi, Umar Goni; Develi, Evrim İldem; Işık Üniversitesi, Lisansüstü Eğitim Enstitüsü, Yöneticiler için İşletme Yönetimi Yüksek Lisans Programı; Işık University, School of Graduate Studies, Executive Master of Business Administration
This study delves into the impact of sustainability practices on brand loyalty, particularly within the fast-fashion industry. It addresses the growing consumer awareness of how fast-fashion brands manage their environmental and ethical responsibilities and how such practices influence consumer loyalty. The research posits that effective communication of sustainability initiatives via social media can significantly enhance consumer trust, satisfaction, and engagement, thereby fostering greater brand loyalty. However, the challenge lies in managing these digital platforms to prevent the dissemination of content that could damage the brand's reputation. Utilizing a quantitative research method, a cross-sectional survey was distributed across multiple social media channels to analyze the interconnections between sustainability practices and their effect on brand loyalty, alongside variables such as satisfaction, trust, and engagement. The analysis, conducted using SPSS, employed various statistical tools and demonstrated a positive link between transparent sustainability practices and brand loyalty. The findings reinforce the importance of sustainability in strengthening brand loyalty in the fast-fashion industry. This study, while providing valuable insights, acknowledges limitations due to its specific demographic focus and the concentration on a single industry sector.

Consumer awareness and user experience in AR-enabled sustainable food packaging
(Istanbul Medeniyet University, 2025-12-31) Köse, Ayşe Merve; Uyan Dur, Banu İnanç
This article examines how augmented reality (AR) can serve the communication aims of sustainable food packaging. Scholarship on sustainability-oriented packaging and AR-mediated consumer communication is synthesized, and the design of a proof-of-concept AR application for an organic food package is presented. The prototype stages information through progressive disclosure, surfaces concise traceability cues and end-of-life guidance, and includes a lightweight game that frames pro-environmental actions. Design choices prioritize clarity, low cognitive load, and cross-device accessibility. To evaluate how the prototype was received by users, an exploratory, cross-sectional user study was conducted in which 31 adults interacted with the prototype on their own smartphones and then completed a brief questionnaire including one openended item; analyses were descriptive. Participants reported favorable perceptions of clarity, usability, information effectiveness, and visual quality. Most also reported higher knowledge and awareness and indicated intentions to apply what they learned. Thematic analysis converged with these patterns and identified priorities for improvement, including performance, accessibility, and audio balance. The article’s contribution is threefold, comprising a design-led articulation of ARenabled packaging for sustainability communication, a descriptive account of user responses at the proof-of-concept stage, and actionable implications for practice (progressive disclosure, verifiable, updatable claims, and light gamification that supports information) as well as for evaluation research (comparative or longitudinal designs with behavioral endpoints).

To build a sustainable city “as a living organism: the city
(ISPEC Publishing House, 2022-10-25) Uçkan, Betül; Gül, Atila; Demirel, Öner; Seydoşoğlu, Seyithan
In the 21st century we live in, the issue of sustainability, which humanity deals with great interest, is basically fed by the instinct of human survival. For this reason, in order for life to continue -for humans to survive- in this Earth piece, the issue of sustainability from human scale to city scale needs to be sensitively examined as "a self-sufficient life cycle that can establish mutual relations with others and feed each other". Examining the analogy between the universe we live in and an organism/living being at a much smaller scale, with the thought that structures of different scales may have similar qualities with each other, may offer creative solutions to the issue of sustainability in design and perception. The study focuses on 'the city: as a living thing' with an analogy established between human being and the city. The sample was constructed on the basis of the basic solutions established for the body to maintain its vitality. At this point, the agent systems that play a role in the continuation of the vitality in a body draw attention: such as the circulatory system, the respiratory system, etc. These systems carry out the actions in the living body in a holistic manner through a nervous system in a perfect cycle. Beyond this balance on the body scale, on a higher scale, there is a larger selfsustaining system within the framework of a mutual relationship: Nature. With the same logic, it can be argued that when moving from a living body to other scales, systems observe similar principles and establish/should establish similar life cycles. On the urban scale, the aim of establishing a fully functioning/living city like an organism can be observed in the design principles of leading cities in the ‘smart city’ theme. For example, in the Punggol region of Singapore, an urban planning that is like an organism draws attention that the green areas of the city are considered as lungs, the city's transportation routes correspond to the vessels and circulatory system, and the data collection and processing mechanisms of the city are equated with data collection and processing with the sensory organs and nervous system2 . Based on these analogies, a sustainable/living city can be built with a holistic design approach in which all its components are pre-planned and integrated with each other, with a holistic/synchronized urban construction theme like a living body. Just as a living thing establishes and nurtures its life cycle, the life of a city can be sustained with similar principles. In the title of 'as a living organism: the city', a living city can be established or a city can be kept alive.
