Yayın CSR and social marketing as enablers of recovery after the global recession: the Turkish banking industry(IGI Global, 2016-12-21) Gül, Mısra Çağla; Kaytaz, MehmetCorporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a relatively new concept in Turkey. Leading companies including banks stress socially responsible activities in their marketing communications. The recent economic crisis put banks into the center stage again. Turkey was one of the few countries that emerged from the economic downturn relatively quickly. In the initial stages of the crisis, banks faced some criticism for protecting their self-interest more and not acting for the benefit of the society. Later, these criticisms got weaker and less frequent. This chapter examines the behavior of banks during the crisis with respect to CSR and social marketing. Particularly, the chapter analyzes how the banks behaved during the crisis and how they supported small and medium scale enterprises and local communities through CSR strategies, as well as how they utilized CSR efforts as a marketing tool. In addition, the outcome of these strategies is discussed.Yayın Moving forward with an eye on the past: a historical perspective of teacher research(IGI Global, 2017) Bush, Jerome CharlesTeacher research has become a well-known term in professional development circles, yet it is still often misunderstood. This chapter seeks to facilitate those who are interested in teacher research by providing a historical perspective. Understanding the development of teacher research over that past century will allow interested parties to move forward with greater insight of the potential benefits and drawbacks inherent in teacher research. Such an analysis may lead to increased success for teacher research projects as the twenty-first century unfolds. Although teacher research can be a challenging form of professional development, it has incredible transformative potential. It has the potential to enhance the entire profession of teaching as well as the knowledge, skills and abilities of individual teachers. A call is made for teachers and academics to move forward by forming an alliance to explore new models and methods of teacher research.Yayın Comparative analysis of fragile fives with panel var models(Int Journal Contemporary Economics & Administrative Sciences, 2023-01) Demirel, Esin; Akgül, Şevket IşılThis study aims to show the similarities and differences between the fragile five classifications, which include countries that are quite different from each other, and to show whether there is a need for a different classification of fragile five, econometrically. In this context, the data set consists of old fragile five and new fragile five classifications. Seven independent variables that are thought to affect the gross domestic product of the countries have been determined. The data are annual for the period 2001-2018. Panel data analysis and Panel vector autoregression are used as a methodology in this paper, respectively. As a result of the analysis, the effects of the independent variables used in the analysis on the dependent differ in the countries included in fragile fives. Also, a change in one of the countries included in fragile fives will affect other countries. Therefore, it concluded that the variables in the models of fragile fives generally have different coefficients from each other. Based on this, it is understood that the revision of old fragile five does not conform to new fragile five, econometrically. It can be suggested as a policy implication that a different classification of fragile five is necessary.Yayın Did you read the news before playing the advergame? Yayın Turkey’s struggle with the PKK and civilian control over the Turkish Armed Forces(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2016-05-03) Kayhan Pusane, ÖzlemAlthough most scholars of Turkey’s civil-military relations argue that the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) insurgency has led to a decrease in civilian control over the Turkish military from the 1980s onwards, this has not always been the case. This article argues that the presence or the degree of the PKK threat is not sufficient to explain the civil-military balance of power in Turkey throughout the 1980s and the 1990s. Instead, the article shows that in the face of the PKK threat, three major factors have influenced the behaviours of both civilian and military policy-makers in Turkey and shaped the level of civilian control. These factors are first, the Turkish political leaders’ control over their political parties and these parties’ control of a majority of seats in the parliament; second, how negatively or positively the military perceives the political leadership; and third, European Union pressures for democratisation.Yayın Sales promotional strategies and buying behavior in an emerging market at the post recession period(IGI Global, 2016) Nasır, Suphan; Bal, EsraThe aim of this study is to investigate the influence of sales promotional tools on consumer buying behavior in an emerging market at the post-recession period. This study assesses consumers' proneness to sales promotions and examines the effectiveness of four promotional tools that are premium offers, coupons, buy and get promotions, and price discounts on buying behavior in terms of brand switching, stockpiling, purchase acceleration, and product trial. The findings reveal that consumers are more prone to price discount and buy and get promotions, respectively. Among the four promotional tools, price discount is the most effective to influence product acceleration, brand switching, stockpiling, and product trial behavior respectively. However, there is no statistically significance difference between the effectiveness of premium offer and buy and get deals with regard to brand switching behavior, product acceleration, and product trail responses. In contrast, coupons are the least ineffective promotional tool in terms of generating all types of consumer response.Yayın Towards enhancing happiness at work with the lenses of positive organizational behavior: The roles of psychological capital, social capital and organizational trust(Lumen Publishing House, 2020-06) Taştan, Seçil; Küçük, Burcu Aydın; İşiaçık, SerinIn this study, based on the approach of humanization of the postmodern organizations and depending on the conceptual background, it was suggested that psychological capital and social capital could be the significant antecedents of employee happiness at workplace. Further, it was proposed that organizational trust has a moderating role on the impact of psychological capital on happiness at workplace. Thereby, a cross-sectional research study has been performed in Turkey with the participation of 222 employees from a variety of sectors including sales, marketing, health, banking, finance and education. According to the findings, it was reported that the psychological capital construct (beta=,778; t=18,370, p<,05) and social capital (beta=,746; t=16,621, p<,05) had significant positive impacts on employees' happiness at workplace. These findings supported the proposed hypothesis 1 and hypothesis 2. In addition, it was demonstrated that organizational trust has significant positive impact on happiness at workplace (beta=,544, t=9,590, p<,05). However, the results indicated that organizational trust has no significant moderating role (p>0,05), thus hypothesis 3 was not confirmed. Further research direction and the need for research on organizational trust's moderating role are discussed. The conceptual and practical implications of the study are provided along with the concluding remarks and discussions.
